The present aspect of Glenroy is that of an upper and lower glen opening up from the larger Glen Spean.

One of them, lying on the western side of the valley where it opens into Glen Spean, is crossed by a trap-dike.

What prevented this sheet of water from spreading east and west in Glen Spean?
