They always imply desquamation of epithelium, which rarely occurs except in parenchymatous inflammations (Figs. 60 and 61).

The symptomatic erythemas are more or less generalized; desquamation sometimes follows.

Erythematous, morbilliform and erythemato-papular; itching is usually present and moderate desquamation may follow.

Erythematous and scarlatinoid; usually no febrile disturbance, and desquamation seldom follows.

The desquamation when present is finer than in either measles or scarlet fever.
