A Gram-positive stool due to cocci is suggestive of intestinal ulceration.

They are coffee-bean-shaped cocci which lie in pairs with their flat surfaces together (Fig. 116).

Cocci exhibit this movement, but with the exception of the Micrococcus agilis, the cocci are non-motile.

We pass on now to the history of another family—namely, the Gallinsecta, as Raumur calls them, or Cocci.

The pyogenic cocci are added factors in the pustular and furuncular cases.
